Four times a year, Focus Healthcare names a Caregiver of the Quarter — celebrating the hard work and outstanding performance of our caregivers. The Caregiver of the Quarter receives recognition and $250. For Q1, 2025, we were pleased to award Caregiver of the Quarter to Focus employee of three years, Yolanda Smiley.
Yolanda’s positive outlook and deep commitment to client care has made her a favorite among the families she cares for. Wherever she goes, clients always want her to return. Yolanda is also greatly respected and appreciated by her colleagues.
Focus staff shared the following praise for Yolanda:
“Yolanda and I share a client who struggles with severe arthritis and needs assistance preparing containers of food they can access easily. The client mentioned how helpful Yolanda is when she visits and that she portioned bacon in a new way that is much easier for the client to cook.”
“I share a client with Yolanda and when I come on shift after her, I know that our client will have been taken care of and ADL’s [Activities of Daily Living] completed. She is a joy to work with.”
“Yolanda and I have a couple clients that we have both worked with recently. We can laugh together and try to make joy out of situations that might otherwise become stressful. I feel her heart and mind are ALWAYS with putting the client’s care first. We recently had a situation that required extra assistance and she was willing to stay an extra hour on her own time until we had solved this issue for the client. I just like her demeanor and her approach to clients. Her heart is BIG and I personally believe she goes the extra mile in her heart and mind for these clients. I am glad I have gotten to know her a little bit. I am honored to work with you Yolanda!”
